This is a translation based on a chapter from the book “The Liberal Mindset” by Sheikh ‘Abdul ‘Azeez At-Turayfy. The chapter is called: “Secularism: The Foundational Philosophy For Liberalism”. As with other chapters translated from this book, this segment has been abridged and reworded for clarity. Part 2 has been modified greatly from the original Arabic because it was necessary to go to English sources which, in turn, provided and led to information that made the narrative richer. As such, part 2 is heavily based on the original Arabic, but draws upon other references.
